The existing Shai-Osudoku District Hospital in Dodowa was established as a health centre in 1985. Attendance at the hospital has more than tripled from 13,080 to over 42,000 between 2009 and 2012. Hospital attendance is expected to increase further by 50 % in 2015. The Dodowa District Hospital will help solve the growing attendance crisis, providing faster and cheaper care for the Dodowa community.

Design

Each hospital has been adapted to suit the unique topography and geographical conditions of its location by a world class team of experts from the UK and Ghana.

The innovative design of the hospitals is aimed at providing a therapeutic environment to aid patient recovery while providing value for money by delivering hospitals which require minimal maintenance, have a low energy footprint and have the capacity for future expansion.

A comprehensive process of consultation with local landowners, farmers and other stakeholders has been undertaken ahead of and throughout the hospital build process.

Shai Osudoku District Hospital – One Year Since Its Ceremonial Handover…

The new Shai Osudoku District Hospital in Dodowa was officially handed over by ex-President John Dramani Mahama at a huge ceremonial event that was broadcast live on GTV on the 4th April 2016.  The 120 bed then went fully operational in late June 2016 and witnessed the birth of its first baby less than 24 hours later.

Over the course of the next 9 months the hospital has flourished with some great stats recorded on their new hospital management system:

  • 43,000+ lab tets
  • 3,400+ admissions
  • 300 births

Official Visit – Minister of Health inspects Dodowa Hospital

The Hon. Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu paid an official visit to Dodowa Hospital, attended by the Regional Director of UK Trade & Investment for West Africa from the British High Commission, Sharon Ganney, and the Chief Director and Regional Director of Health.

The Minister witnessed at first hand the outstanding work of medical staff, as well as the technical support staff, in this new-generation district hospital which is fully-operational.

Following the visit, the Regional Director of UK Trade remarked: “Having seen the build in various stages of construction, to see it delivering for Ghanaian people was testament to all of the great work done by NMS.”

Built To Care Ghana Project Showcased at the Africa Healthcare Summit 2017

Head of Business Development at NMS Infrastructure, Nicholas Oliver, lead a panel discussion at the Africa Healthcare Summit in London to showcase the Built To Care Ghana Project.

The panel was made up of Sam Hoexter from UK Export Finance, Polly Barker from architects tp Bennet and Ed Harking from Fieldstone Private Capital Group, with the session well received by all present.
